When you leave a comment on our site, we collect the information you provide, such as your name, email, and message. We also log your IP address and browser details to help prevent spam.
If you’re using Gravatar, we send an encrypted version of your email (called a hash) to their service to check if you have a profile. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture may appear publicly next to your comment. Read their privacy policy here to learn how Gravatar handles your data.
Media Uploads
If you upload images to our site, we recommend stripping out any location data (like GPS info in photo files). Anyone can download those photos and potentially see where they were taken.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored in your browser to make your experience smoother.
- If you leave a comment, you can save your name, email, and website in cookies, so you don’t have to re-enter them next time. These stay for a year.
- When you visit our login page, we set a temporary cookie to check if your browser accepts cookies. The cookie is deleted when you close your browser.
- Logging in? We set cookies to remember your login and screen settings. Login cookies last two days, or two weeks if you click “Remember Me.” Display preference cookies last a year. Logging out removes them.
- We save a cookie with the post ID if you edit or publish a post. It doesn’t hold personal data and expires in a day.
